About Baker

The school continues to provide a family-oriented, nurturing, and safe environment for students to learn, grow, and develop intellectually. The dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators maintain their commitment to prioritizing the needs of the students.
 
The experienced teaching staff at Baker's boasts an average of over 17 years of teaching experience. They not only focus on academic achievement but also emphasize the social and emotional well-being of the students. In the early grades, TK/Kinder students engage in Kimochi lessons that center around Social Emotional Learning (SEL), while students in grades 1st through 5th are exposed to the Second Step curriculum to meet their SEL needs.
 
To cater to the academic needs of the students, Baker utilizes several programs, including:
Mathematics: Eureka Math
English Language Arts (ELA): Benchmark Advanced
Science: Stemscopes
Social Studies: Savvas
Social-Emotional Curriculum: Kimochis (K), Second Step (1st-5th)
 
Furthermore, teachers have the flexibility to supplement the district-adopted curriculum with various programs to better meet the individual needs of their students.
 
Baker Elementary was recognized by Project Cornerstone with the 2017 Asset Champions Award for fostering a caring school climate. This recognition highlights the exceptional staff and community at Baker, showcasing their dedication to creating a positive environment for students.
 
Additionally, Baker School proudly received the California Distinguished School Award in 2002, which is a significant honor for the entire school community. This recognition affirms the ongoing commitment to excellence and reflects the dedication of students, educators, and parents. The California School Recognition Program, established in 1985, identifies and honors exemplary public schools across the state.
