It's open enrollment period for the 2021-2022 Moreland Extended Day program! Enrollment for Baker, Country Lane, EDS, Latimer, and Payne sites will begin at 9:00am May 10th and end on May 16th at 4:00 pm. TK-5th grade care is offered at all sites. In addition, 6th-8th grade care is provided at EDS and Latimer (serving both Latimer & MMS students). Spaces are limited and a lottery system will be used to place students in the Extended Day program. On June 1st, families will be notified about their child’s enrollment status. Students who are not placed in a program will be placed on a waitlist. For more information visit www.moreland.org.

The U.S. Department of Education approved California’s waiver of accountability, school identification, related reporting requirements for the 2020-21 school year. Therefore, we will not be administering the SBAC or CAST assessments this school year. It is a requirement to assess students, in grades 3-8, using local assessments and provide that information to parents. We will be using and reporting our last round of Study Island benchmark assessment data in ELA and Math. Students who have the California Alternative Assessment (CAA) designated on their IEP, will take that assessment prior to the end of the school year. Individual benchmark scores will be sent home to parents at the end of the school year. CAA scores will be sent home once the state releases them, which is anticipated to be the fall.

Mark your calendars! Camp Moreland is hosting a six week, fun-filled day camp that includes a variety of active, hands-on learning opportunities surrounding engaging and exciting themes. Campers will enjoy activities that vary from week to week and are designed to be age appropriate for all students. Each day our campers will also have designated “brain boost time” where academics will be reviewed. Some of our summer themes include “Artful Antics,” “Full STEAM Ahead,” and “Zoomania”.

Safety is our number one concern at Moreland. Due to COVID-19 and in accordance with the public health department’s recommendations, students will be placed in small groups and will participate in activities only with their assigned group while at camp. Additionally, all staff and students will be required to wear face coverings and follow social distancing protocols throughout the day.

Camp Moreland is open to all Moreland School District students entering grades transitional kindergarten through eighth grade and is a wonderful place for your students to develop long lasting friendships. Summer camp will be held Monday through Friday at Latimer Elementary School located at 4250 Latimer Avenue San Jose, CA. 95130 from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Online registration will begin on April 26, 2021. To register, go to the Moreland School District website www.moreland.org, then to the “Schools” tab, select “Extended Day/Enrichment Programs” from the drop down menu, and click on “Summer Camp”.
