About Baker

The school provides a family-oriented, nurturing, and safe place for students to learn, grow, and develop intellectually. Teachers, staff, and administrators continue to act on the principle that students come first.

Baker's staff takes pride in developing a well-rounded student. Baker's teachers on average have over 17 years of teaching experience and not only strive to reach all students academically, but focus on the social and emotional aspects as well.  Students in TK/ Kinder will engage in Kimochi lessons that focus on Social Emotional Learning(SEL).  In grades 1st through 5th the students are exposed to the Second Step curriculum to meet their SEL needs.

For the academic curriculum Baker utilizes the following programs to meet the student's academic needs:

    Mathematics- Eureka Math
    ELA- Benchmark Advanced
    Science- Stemscopes
    Social Studies- Savvas
    Social-Emotional Curriculum- Kimochis(K), Second Step (1st- 5th)

In addition to the district-adopted curriculum, teachers have the freedom to supplement with various programs to meet the needs of the students.

Baker School is very pleased to have been named a 2002 California Distinguished School, a proud honor for the entire Baker community. We believe this award affirms an ongoing renewal process that began long ago and that reflects the talents and dedication of many students, educators, and parents. The California School Recognition Program was created in 1985 to communicate and reinforce the priorities of the State Board of Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Each year the program identifies and honors some of the state's most exemplary public schools.
