Moreland School District Counseling Program offers free, comprehensive school-based counseling supports to students. These services are provided by licensed and pre-licensed mental health professionals and credentialed school counselors. Services offered are evidence based, positive and strengths focused, and include individual, group, and whole-class therapies in areas such as: stress management, coping and social skills, strategies to deal with grief and loss, anger management, conflict resolution, substance abuse therapy, and academic empowerment. When needed, the school counselor may also refer the student to outside professionals if school-based counseling is not sufficient to meet a student’s needs. Parents interested in referring their child to on-site counseling services may contact their child’s school office to obtain referral and consent forms. To learn more about CASSY click here

Counseling Services Overview
Our comprehensive School Counseling program at Baker includes a variety of services for our TK-5 students. These services include:
Group Counseling: This is where we will meet with about 2-6 students in a group setting for about 8-10 weeks for 30/min/week on a specific topic (i.e. Anxiety, Anger, Social/Friendship skills, Self-esteem, etc.).
Individual Counseling: This is where we will meet with students individually for about 3-4 weeks for 30/min/week on any concerns teachers/parents have (i.e. study skills, coping skills, family issues, etc.)
Check-in: This is where we will check in with students either weekly, or every other week for about 10-15 minutes to see how they are doing, how their classes are going, etc.
Classroom Lessons: This is where the Counselor will come into the classroom and facilitate a skills-based classroom lesson based off grade-level needs.

I am very excited to be at Baker Tuesday and Friday this year! It is my 7th year working in the Moreland School District. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Art Therapist. I also have a Child Development Degree which helps me understand the various stages kids are going through at each age/grade level. Go Bobcats!!
