With flu season coming up, Moreland is encouraging families to pre-register for on-site Covid testing, in case the need arises. This registration is valid for up to 6 months, and no appointment is ever needed for when you do need to test. Moreland offers free Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) COVID testing for all Moreland students and staff. You may access testing Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 8:00 am at the Moreland School District office located at 4711 Campbell Ave., San Jose or contact your school site for school testing hours. Testing samples will be shipped for testing and results will be emailed to you in 48-72 hours.

We want to send a reminder to parents to park during drop-off or pick-up with consideration to our local residents – not blocking drives, making turns using neighbor’s driveways, or parking in a way that endangers the safety of children and their families. If you are planning to travel internationally during the upcoming vacations, please ensure you are following the CDC guidelines. Please contact your school site to ask any further questions as well as inform them of your plans.

On September 23rd, the CDC released clearer guidelines for masking. In checking with our Santa Clara County Department of Health, Dr. Fenstersheib agreed that school districts need to be following the CDC guidance for masks. Specifically, he stated that if you hold your mask up to the sun and you can see through it, it should not be used. Here are the CDC recommendations:
All Moreland students will need to wear masks that meet these requirements while on campus. If your student’s mask is unsuitable given these guidelines, your school front office has free masks available.

The Moreland School District is seeking feedback on the federal funding that we are receiving to address the impact of COVID-19. The funding is for 3 years and should be spent by the end of the 2023-2024 school year. The purpose of the grant is to help districts implement health and safety protocols to maintain a safe environment for staff and students and respond to students' academic, social, and emotional needs.

Please provide your feedback on the proposed actions that align to the purpose of the funding by selecting your top 4 actions to prioritize. You may also write in additional actions.

As the weather changes, and it begins to get dark earlier, this is a good time to remind your children of the following safety rules.
1) Travel with a friend, or better yet a group of friends when riding bikes or walking to or from school or other destinations.
2) Stay away from and never go into a car with a stranger
3) Move away from a car that pulls up beside them if they do not know the driver
4) Children should always tell parents where they are going. Adults should always leave a note at home when they are going for a walk too, noting their destination of route in case of emergency.
Children are our most precious resource and it is our responsibility as parents and teachers to safeguard children and to teach them the skills to be safe. Together we can protect our children by teaching them to be smart, strong, and safe. Have a great weekend.

Testing samples will be shipped for testing and results will be emailed to you in 24-72 hours.

To participate in Moreland’s COVID testing this year, all families NEED to register. Please complete a registration link for each student in your family, connected to their school of attendance. This registration is valid for up to 6 months. No appointment is needed for testing.

Please note that we will require testing for any student that is sent home due to COVID symptoms. This can be done at your doctor’s office or at Baker. In order for Baker to test your child we DO need permission. By registering using the following link you are giving us permission to test. We will of course notify you if we need to test your child. I recommend all parents to pre-register their child as it will make the process a lot smoother in the event of needing to test.
