Parent Informational Meeting
Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades TK-8. Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author and motivational speaker, will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. This is our second year with his program, Be Seen and Heard. It is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The assemblies are presented in specific grade level groups to ensure that the message is age appropriate for all students. The focus of the presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
Saying “NO”
It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
Telling a trusted adult
Safety rules at home and school
Safe/unsafe secrets
Students will watch the presentation over Zoom in their classroom on November 4 or 5. The exact time of the assembly will be shared with you as we get closer to the date. If you choose for your child to not participate in the assembly, there will be an opt out form for you to complete.
To learn more about the content of the assembly, you are invited to attend a parent informational meeting on Tuesday, October 5 at 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
